5 Minutes With… Norbert Kristof

Norbert Kristof is from Miskolc in Hungary. He received his first guitar when he was 13 years old, and spent his formative years learning to play, record and perform. He started making music professionally 10 years ago. Although his original musical inspirations were all bands, Norbert grew to love the world of singer-songwriting, including such names as Damien Rice and Elliott Smith. Despite this, he still sees himself as a rock artist, and not a traditional singer-songwriter.

Who or what inspired you to become a musician?
Kurt Cobain when I was 13 years old.

Which do you prefer, studio or stage?

Cannot really pick one. All those moments when I was able to make a connection with the audience.

Bill Murray. Just because he is the coolest.

Where is the best place in the Hungarian countryside to watch the autumn colors?
I can’t help you on this one. I mostly go to the countryside in the summer.

To find an amazing band to work with, a manager, a producer and to tour the world. I would love to write a movie soundtrack for a director I love.

Coachella in the late afternoon when you can see the palm trees and the sun going down from the stage.

I don’t know much about any festivals or clubs located on a beach. Don’t know much about beach places either! But I would love to play a gig with friends, something like the Red Hot Chili Peppers – Road Trippin’ video.

If you could choose one of your songs for an Olympic ice dancing routine, which one would it be and why?
Animal Bones, just because it’s poppy and haunting.
